Hey all Friends of Tideman Johnson,
It’s October! That means it’s time for our annual foray into the wetland. Right now the Tideman Johnson wetland is as small and dry as its ever going to be, so what better time to get in there for a little invasive weed removal? We’ll be going after the usual suspects: ivy, blackberry, nightshade, and bindweed. There is a spectrum of wet to dry terrain, so you’ll be able to choose your preferred level of muckieness.
And did you know that stinging nettles are natives? Yes, they are a common member of our wetland plant communities, and that includes Tideman Johnson. Here’s a good picture http://www.pnwflowers.com/flower/urtica-dioica. So do yourself a favor and bring a long-sleeved shirt.
