This event has been canceled for Dec. 7th and rescheduled for Saturday, January 4, 2013.
From Marianne Colgrove:
Hey all Friends of Tideman Johnson,
This Saturday we’re going to plant some native plants in our oak grove!
Yes, we have a grove of native Oregon White Oak (aka Garry Oak, aka Quercus garryana). It’s actually one very large oak tree plus a bunch of small ones we planted a few years ago. But, hey – we are well on our way to a grove of native oaks.
We will have about 200 natives to plant – not so very many! A delightful mix of thimbleberry, swamp rose, snowberry, choke cherry, pearly everlasting, and fireweed (my favorite).
I hear it might be cold but, that’s OK! You may have heard the saying “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.” No? Well, you’ve heard it now. Dress warm, you’ll be fine. I’ve attached a picture of our planting crew, in the actual oak grove, from December 2007. If I recall, we did have a few snowflakes that day, but look how happy we are! Easy peasy.
So, I hope you can join us for the last Tideman Johnson event of 2013
