TriMet is holding a Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail project update meeting, which regards recalibrating the project to fit the lower than anticipated federal funding resources. The meeting is Wed., Sept. 29, 2010, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Rose Villa, Wm. Russell Mefford Fellowship Hall, 13505 SE River Rd. in Oak Grove.
TriMet published a list of proposed cuts and deferrals and presented it to the Citizens Advisory Committee on Sept. 16. Two items on the proposed cuts or reductions lists affecting Ardenwald are the elimination of the traffic signal at SE Johnson Creek Blvd. (JCB) and SE 42nd Ave. for traffic calming (saves $300,000), and reducing the Tacoma St. Station 800-car garage to a 320-car parking surface (saves $10.8 million).
The parking garage and the traffic signal items may be restored if funding becomes available. On April 20, 2010, the Milwaukie City Council voted 4-1 to reject staff recommendation for a traffic signal at SE 42nd Ave. and SE JCB for traffic calming related to the PMLR project.
