When the holiday season is winding down and you’re thinking about dismantling your Christmas tree (or Hanukkah bush, etc.), save the date: January 4!
Because that’s when the North Clackamas Watersheds Council will be collecting trees for their annual partnership with the North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District (NCPRD) to improve salmon habitat in our watersheds.
Large wood (like a Christmas tree) adds important complexity to stream habitat for fish, slowing down the water and providing shelter from sun and predators. At the end of January, donated trees will be installed in the side channel around Elk Rock Island to help improve aquatic habitat there.
So remember: after bringing holiday cheer to your and your family, your tree still has more to give! The PNW’s salmon runs need our help, and they thank you in advance!
When and where to bring your tree:
- When: Saturday, January 4, 2025, 10:00am – 2:00pm
- Where: North Clackamas Park (5440 SE Kellogg Creek Dr.), Parking Area A
- Also: A $5 donation to finance this operation is kindly requested!
