43rd Avenue/42nd Avenue SAFE Project Update: October 26, 2021
Paving and pedestrian/bicycle improvements are coming this fall for the 43rd Avenue and 42 Avenue Improvements project!
Below is what the City of Milwaukie is doing on each section of the project corridor.
43rd Avenue between King Road and Howe Street
· Building a 10-foot multi-use bike and ped path and a landscaped planter strip on the west side of the street
· Building a 5-foot sidewalk on the east side of the street
· Adding crosswalk striping
· Repaving the roadway
Howe Street between 42nd Avenue and 43rd Avenue
· Building a 5-foot sidewalk on both sides of the street
· Adding crosswalk striping
· Repaving the roadway
42nd Avenue between Johnson Creek Boulevard and Harvey Street
- Building a 5-foot sidewalk on the west side of the street
- Installing speed cushions and curb extensions in select locations
- Adding crosswalk striping
We will also replace a sewer mainline on 43rd Avenue between Rockwood Street and Covell Street and on 42nd Avenue between Fieldcrest Avenue and Olsen Street and build Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps throughout the project area.
