The return of autumn means more rain, shorter days, incessant talk about pumpkin spice and how stores are putting up holiday decorations way too early…and wildlife habitat restoration work parties!
Summertime makes our parks and natural areas too hot and dry for effective planting or weeding, so autumn is the time to resume work. Work parties are happening on Saturdays throughout each month, and at both the northern and southern ends of the neighborhood, so you’ve definitely got one near you!
If you’ve been meaning to get outside and/or volunteer more, or you’d just like to lend a hand to help our native wildlife, try out one of the events below. Events typically involve planting native trees and wildflowers, weeding invasives, and picking up litter; training and equipment are provided.
