The August concerts begin on Thursday, August 1. This first concert coincides with our National Night Out celebration, starting 6:00pm at Ardenwald Park (click for map). Public safety representatives from both Portland and Milwaukie will promote safety awareness, answer questions from citizens, and provide fun activities and materials for kids.
As for the concerts themselves, here’s the planned lineup. All concerts begin at 6:30pm (new starting time this year!) and go until dusk:
- August 1: Rich Layton & Tough Town (swampadelic rock, rhythm and the honkytonk blues); National Night Out starts just beforehand at 6:00pm.
- August 8: PDX Jazz Quartet (jazz, R&B, pop)
- August 15: Blues Mamas (women-led blues)
- August 22: Due to weather, no concert this evening.
- August 29: Sabroso (Latin, funk, and everything in between)
“But wait! Can I buy things?!” we hear you asking. Yes indeed—at each concert, there will be food for sale from The Milwaukie Cafe & Bottle Shop and Luna’s Ice Cream, plus apparel/gifts from Made in Milwaukie.
ALSO: To help us fund this concert series and other neighborhood projects, do consider a neighborhood flag (actual flags, plus stickers, shirts, and beanies) from the neighborhood association’s merch table; see images of available items below. Each purchase includes a free pamphlet explaining our flag’s symbolism.
We’ve also got a new t-shirt design in the works. (Teaser: it’s red!)
