ClackCo PublicAlerts to replace Milwaukie’s Code Red emergency messaging system

Milwaukie residents signed up for the Code Red emergency service will need to sign up for a new service soon.

On September 1, Clackamas County is upgrading the system how it communicates with residents in disaster or other emergencies to the Everbridge PublicAlerts system.

Milwaukie and Portland residents within Clackamas County with cell phones or voice over internet (VOIP) are encouraged to enroll or re-enroll at https://www.clackamas.us/publicalerts.

Milwaukie Police Department says land-line subscribers are already automatically enrolled into the new alert system, however, cell phone and VOIP CodeRed subscribers will not roll over into PublicAlerts and will require a new enrollment.

The Code Red service ends January 1, 2019 and the new Everbridge PublicAlerts system will be the only system used then.

Portland has been using the Everbridge PublicAlerts system for several years. Subscribers to the Portland/Multnomah County Public Alerts system do not need to re-enroll.

Subscribers can sign up for multiple accounts to receive notifications via voice message, SMS text, TTY/TDD devices, and email from multiple systems.
