On a sunny Sunday afternoon, about 50 residents from Ardenwald-Johnson Creek and other neighborhoods took to the streets and sidewalk for the inaugural Walk Milwaukie neighborhood tour.
The group met at the Ardenwald Park at the north end of Ardenwald around 1 p.m. and set out for a 2.7-mile walking tour of the neighborhood led by Paul Klein, a Lewelling neighborhood resident and an architect who has been studying the history and historical photographs of Milwaukie’s neighborhoods.
Klein led the group south along S.E. 42nd Ave., to Harvey St., to the south end of Providence Milwaukie Hospital along King and Llewellyn, and returning north along S.E. 32nd Ave.
At S.E. Balfour St., a few walkers from the group separated and trekked past the proposed Balfour Street Park. A few participants also stopped for coffee at Arthouse Waffles and Espresso at S.E. 32nd Ave. and S.E. Olsen St. before returning to Ardenwald Park.
