Parks

Ardenwald-Johnson Creek currently boasts four public parks:

Ardenwald Park

See Map

Located on SE Roswell St. across from Ardenwald Elementary, this little park features picnic tables, a shelter, and a play area. Ardenwald Park is also the site of the neighborhood’s Summer Concerts held in August.

Balfour Park

See Map

AJC’s newest park, Balfour Park is currently under construction and is scheduled to officially open in spring of 2025. This park’s existence is thanks to the indefatigable efforts of certain NDA members who are too modest to ask for credit here.

Tideman Johnson Park

See Map

Part of Portland Parks & Recreation, this natural area is nested inside the Johnson Creek canyon at the north end of the neighborhood, along the Springwater Corridor Trail. Parking is available at SE 45th Ave. trailhead.

Water Tower Park

Probably the easiest park to find, with its massive green water tower at the corner of SE 40th Ave. and Harvey St. This park features a play area, basketball court, and a sheltered paved space under the water tower. (Bonus fact: the hill of this water tower is symbolized in the AJC flag!)
