2 Railroad-Related Issues in AJC: Your Input Needed!

Not one, but two railroad-related issues are emerging in AJC. And as you read these words, your input is being sought! The issues in question:

Issue the First:
A new bike/pedestrian pathway, mere steps from AJC’s borders?

Metro has proposed building a new multi-use path along SE Railroad Ave (map it), connecting the Milwaukie Marketplace and Minthorn Springs in the west to the 3 Creeks Natural Area in the east.

However, this project is competing with other regional projects for funding, so if you care to voice your support (or ire!) for this proposal, go here to do so. This site shows many projects, but you’ll find this one under Clackamas County Projects > Railroad Avenue Multiuse Path.

Issue the Second:
Idle trains: also the Devil’s workshop?

Some neighbors are concerned about fumes, particulate matter, noise, and vibrations from trains idling on AJC’s western boundary. ODOT is currently collecting opinions on updates to their State Rail Plan, and this survey could be a chance to voice concerns.

The orange “RAIL IMPROVEMENTS MAP” segment of the survey provides a mapping tool where you can pin specific comments to a place on the map. So you can enter your comments thusly, along with any others (such as support for a safe pedestrian crossing between AJC’s residential streets and the North Milwaukie Industrial Area, for instance)!
